When the Rubik’s Cube made its debut in the 1980s, the brainpans—wannabe and otherwise—finally had a game that challenged their mental mettle. If you were the average person, fiddling with your cube to never align the designated colors was the norm. But if you were that rare combination of gifted problem solver and quick thinker, a career was born.
 

James Benedict Cañares won the Bulacan Open 2009 with an average of 13.28 seconds. Chia-Wei Lu finished second (14.26) and Kevin Zerzes Sapo finished third (15.24).

Durben Joun Virtucio won the Cebu Open 2009 with an average of 14.56 seconds. James Benedict Cañares finished second (15.11 sec) and Aaron James Melendez finished third (16.14 sec).

Cebu Open 2009 Speedcubing Competition will be held at the University of the Southern Philippines Foundation located at Salinas Drive, Lahug, Cebu City at April 18 of this year. This competition will be a one day event composed of 9 event categories. Since it is a WCA recognized competition, WCA Regulations will be applied throughout the event.
